Hackney Learning Trust (HLT) is responsible for Hackney's children centers, schools and early years and adult education. Sheels works with HLT on two programs: Destination Reader and Daily Supported Reading, supplying the books that are recommended to support the training provided.

About Hackney Learning Trust

In 2002, The Learning Trust was established as the first private, not-for-profit company in the UK to takeover and transform a council’s entire education function. The Learning Trust helped to transform education in Hackney – turning Hackney from one of the lowest performing local authorities to one where currently 98% of primary pupils and 100% of secondary pupils attend an outstanding or good school.

In 2012, after a decade of substantial improvements The Learning Trust was incorporated back into Hackney Council and is now known as Hackney Learning Trust. We continue to sell our services on a not-for-profit basis and work with over 400 schools across the UK.
We have 500 professionals working across 21 specialist service areas, ranging from Teaching and Learning, Inclusion, Educational Psychology to IT. Our teams include ex - Headteachers, curriculum experts, specialist consultants, and school business and administration experts. We have a particular expertise in improving literacy and have a range of proven programs that deliver tangible outcomes in the classroom for both reading and writing”
